Luis Aguilar, CCHW

Luis Aguilar Chavez is a Certified Community Health Worker with the Arizona Community Health Workers Association (AzCHOW), supporting the Salud en Acción initiative in Douglas, Arizona. With a background in youth development, community outreach, and education, he brings a thoughtful and responsive approach to promoting community health.
Previously, Luis served as a 4-H Extension Assistant with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, where he led the Juntos youth program, trained volunteers, and represented Cochise County at statewide events. He also worked as an instructional aide in Douglas public schools, helping students build confidence and stay engaged in learning—experiences that strengthened his skills in assessment, relationship building, and culturally responsive education.
Today, Luis applies these strengths to advance colorectal cancer prevention, healthy food access, and chronic disease screening in one of Arizona’s most underserved regions. Passionate about meeting people where they are, he exemplifies the power of local leadership to create healthier, more connected communities.
