Flor began her career as a volunteer Promotora in 1996 for an HIV Prevention project funded by Farmworker Justice Fund. She is also Director of the Arizona Community Health Worker (AZCHW) Network, and was recently elected as Chair of the ADHS CHW Leadership Council. Ms. Redondo has over 19 years’ experience as a Promotora/CHW, and over 17 years in developing and coordinating Community Health Worker/Promotora programs.
The youngest of seven children, Lorena was born in Mendoza Argentina. Both of her parents are Chilean, as well as all her brothers and sisters. Lorena’s family came to the United States when Lorena was only 11 months. Tucson is home for Lorena. This is where she married had twins who are now 11 and a boy who is 5 years old. Tucson is also where Lorena works as Community Health Advisor for El Rio Health Center.
Born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. Lourdes came to US 34 years ago and lived in Texas and then moved to Douglas, Az. While in Douglas, she went back to school to learn English and got her Certificate as Nursing Assistant and later, in 2000 she received a Community Health Worker Certificate. She worked for 12 years at Douglas Hospital. At the same time, she started working at Cochise Health Dept. with the Health Start Program (Maternal/Child and Teen Pregnancy) doing home visits to pregnant woman.
